Reflection \\ Guerilla Warfare, Che Guevara

After watching Guerilla Architect I was intrigued to find out more on the subject of a Guerilla struggle, loosely meaning an underground struggle by a populous against a ruling group with superior resources. Guerilla Warfare was witten by Che Guevara and first published in 1961 immediately after the Cuban Revolution. In it, Guevara details how a Guerilla force may triumph against a standing army, though he repeatedly stresses that what worked in Cuba may not work elsewhere.

Some of the tactics are interesting and deserve repeating, such as the need to have the aid and support of the local population or the demoralising effect on the enemy of always and continually attacking the vanguard of their army (eventually, none of the enemy soldiers want to be in the van, and their mobility is reduced). Guevara also gives detailed instructions on the equipment needed for fighting a Guerilla war – in the jungles of Cuba.

Clearly, not all of Guevara’s recommendations will hold true for Šnipiškės, which is neither a jungle nor in the throes of a revolutionary war. However some of his points are intriguing and potential tactics that may be applied, such as continual harassment or using captured resources to suit your own needs.
